4 Day Retreat in Portland, OR

May 7, 2015 @ 5:00 pm - May 10, 2015 @ 3:00 pm

The Insight of Not-One, Not-Two: A Path of Love, Purpose, and Non-Discrimination

This retreat is presented by the Many Rivers Order of Interbeing Sangha of Oregon and SW Washington.

During this retreat, through the continuous practice of mindfulness in each activity, we will create a stable ground of presence and acceptance to get deeply in touch with ourselves, our loved ones, and the Earth. From this place we will learn to exercise our capacity to look deeply and develop understanding that can liberate us from suffering.

We will explore the teachings on Right Mindfulness (samma sati) and Right View (samma dhitti), learning to think, feel, and embody our True Nature of Interbeing, and to find meaning and purpose in even the smallest events.

The Buddha offered profound indications that can guide us to experience, each for ourselves, the Wisdom of Non-Discrimination, which is freedom from grasping to views and ideas. This practice allows us not to get caught in any notion, better/worse, right/wrong, same/different, being/non-being. It allows us to see each other without judgment and bias. It frees us to love without expectation and attachment.

The path of practice is an inclusive path with True Presence, Insight, and Loving Action at its heart. With skillful guidance, enthusiasm, and the support of the Sangha (practice community) all around us, we can transform sadness, anger, fear, and loss into a fertile soil of life-giving possibilities.
