Four Day Retreat – Boise, ID

March 13, 2014 @ 4:00 pm - March 16, 2014 @ 3:00 pm

Gathering Into Stillness

Releasing Our Attachments and Burdens with Stability, Joy and Freedom

A retreat founded in the practice of mindfulness and meditation in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village.

With daily mindfulness, meditation, and the practice of Touching the Earth as a base we will explore the Buddhist teachings on desire and liberation.

The fundamental energy of desire can lead us in either a wholesome or unwholesome direction.  If left unattended, it will push us through grasping, attachment, and much suffering for ourselves and our loved ones.  However, if held and tended with awareness and understanding, desire can blossom as an aspiration to heal and help. It can become a powerful and nourishing energy on the path of serving others.  It is the basic energy that feeds the Bodhisattva within us.

We will explore the Buddhist teachings on the four aspects of unwholesome desire which include grasping onto sense pleasures, views, forms/habits, and ideas of a separate-self.  We will also work, through discussions and the practice of Touching the Earth, to release and transform these attachments – and to wake up the stable, bright, free spirit within us – strengthening our capacity to walk the joyful path of understanding, compassion, and liberation from unnecessary suffering.
