Retreat on the Eastern Shore, VA

April 10, 2014 @ 5:00 pm - April 13, 2014 @ 3:00 pm

Living Deeply

The Salt Marsh Sangha invites you to a mindfulness retreat in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh.

The retreat is residential with silent sitting meditation, indoor and outdoor walking meditation and daily Dharma talks by our teacher, Dharma discussions, and Sutra services. The retreat is suitable for beginning and experienced meditation practitioners.

We know intellectually that life is impermanent.  But too often we live our lives apart from that reality.  The theme of our spring retreat is Living Deeply.  This retreat will give us an opportunity to touch deeply the truth of impermanence in our lives and in the world.  Our retreat takes inspiration from the Gatha on Impermanence often recited a day’s end:

The day is now ended.

Our lives are shorter.

Let us look carefully.

What have we done?

Let us live deeply

Free from our afflictions

Aware of impermanence

So that life does not drift

away without meaning.
