Opening the Heart of True Love
A mindfulness retreat on the theme of Love and Bodhicitta
There are moments when our hearts crack wide open and we love the Earth and all its beings. In these moments, we feel we are woven deeply into the web of life. For most of us, this experience is fleeting (if we have it at all). We go through our days and years trying to make our relationships “work,” trying to make peace with who we are, trying to feel settled and grounded. Our busy minds are full of complicated stories, instead of coming home to our hearts, to understanding and love.
In this retreat, through the study and practice of the Four Immeasurable Minds (kindness, joy, compassion, and inclusiveness), we will shine the light of awareness on our capacity to love and to be loved. We will strengthen Bodhicitta, our aspiration to walk the path of awakening and virtue for the benefit of all, through both suffering and joy… for love is contained in both. During our time together, we will practice mindfulness in each moment of the day, allowing our hearts to open and to feel love for ourselves, all beings and for our mother Earth.
Hosted by the Heart of the Valley Mindfulness Practice Center, MorningSun Community, Mountains and Rivers Mindfulness Community, and Peaceful Path Sangha, the retreat will be facilitated by Dharma Teachers in the Order of Interbeing Richard Brady and Michael Ciborski.
